An Education Lesson From the Madore-ables

We can learn a lot from children.

No matter what you're going through.

No matter what pain.

No matter what happiness.

Stop and think about the things we take for granted.

Pause and smile

When the going gets tough,

The tough make a funny face...

or two...

Just be silly.

Laughter is good for the heart.

Jump around.

Dance like nobody is watching you.

Even if someone is watching, invite them.

Hug.

And never let go.

"Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow.

Don't walk behind me, I may not lead.

Just walk beside me and be my friend." -- Albert Camus

Madore-ables On the Campaign Trail

This past weekend our Madore-ables had an exciting up in Maine.

Jeremy was hired by the committee of Congressman Ron Paul to take photographs at a rally up in Maine. I unfortunately couldn't go the event as I had to work Friday and Saturday night.

While I was home here working, the girls experienced their first dose of celebrity'ism...they made the newspaper!

(The photograph above was taken by Amber Waterman of the Lewiston Sun Journal in Lewiston, Maine).

I love Sarah's expression here!

BIG BIG BIG special thank yous to my Mother-in-Law and Father-in-Law for watching the Madore-ables. Another great big thank you to my brother in law, and my sister in law, Kate for watching the girls Saturday afternoon. The Madore-ables loved spending time with their Mamere and Papere and playing with their cousins!

Five Things Friday

Five Things That Happened This Past Week That Made Me Smile

  1. Boston was able to have some beautiful weather this past Tuesday. Sure, it was only 40 degrees, but it was a heat wave compared to the frigid, typical January temperatures we've been having. The Madore-ables were able to take out their bikes and we went on a bike ride. I was also able to take the camera out with us. With the cold temps, I haven't been able to take as many photos. So, a happy day for all of us. If you missed the blog post, you can click here.

  2. I found out earlier this week at work that I received a "secret shop" and received a 100%!!!! For those of you who don't know what that means, it just means that a customer came into the store and their sole purpose of being there was not only to eat, but to secretly grade me and my performance of waiting on them. I was so happy to hear of my 100% and it's really helped me focus on each person that comes in, because who knows if they're a secret shopper too? :)

  3. Jeremy and I have signed ourselves up for our first Bridal Gala Expo. We're really excited about it! So, if you know of anyone who is engaged, and in the process of planning their wedding, click here for more information! Captured in Moments and other several vendors will be there.

  4. Fundraising and training continue to go well. I injured my foot slightly this past week, so I was taking it easy as to not injure myself. My foot is feeling much much better, so I'm hoping to get back on the treadmill this coming weekend.

  5. Jeremy and I set up a "penny jar" rewards system for both the Madore-ables a few weeks back, and we have definitely seen some positive results from it. Both girls have decided that once they fill up their jars with pennies, they want to go to Imajine That over in Lawrence.

Early Spring!

Boston received a real treat earlier this week.

A 50 degree sunny day.

In the middle of January.

So of course this called for going outside, riding bikes and wearing rain boots!

And for me, this included bringing the camera out of its slumber!

Five Things Friday

Five Things That Happened This Past Week That Made Me Smile:

  1. Last night, The Provident Bank in Newburyport hosted a photography gallery show with some of Jeremy's and our friend Jeremiah's work. At one point I looked around the lobby and there had to have been at least 20 people just talking and looking at all the framed photographs. We are so fortunate that our friends and family took the time to come view the photos. From what I understand, the bank will continue to be hanging the photographs on their wall for another few weeks. So, if you're in the Newburyport area, please feel free to stop on by and paroose! An added bonus, one of our photographs sold. Woo hoo!

  2. Boston received two minor snow storms this past week. My Mom and I dressed the girls up for the first one and made snowmen. Of course, Mother Nature had other plans and decided to raise the temperatures to 40 degrees and melted our beloved snow men. I posted a blog about it earlier in the week. If you missed it, you can view it again here.

  3. Sarah has been potty trained since early Summer time. We kept Sarah in diapers only when she went to bed. Welllllll, I'm happy to say that Sarah has gone all week without a diaper to bed, and she woke up dry everytime!!! This means no more diapers for Sarah!

  4. Jeremy made me a cd of all of my favorite songs that I could never get sick of. Now when we get into the car, I receive requests from the girls. "Mommy? Can you put on Adele?" "Mommy! Antebellum pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease?"

  5. My training and fundraising continue to go very well. I've received some more donations this week which puts me more than halfway to my required goal for Avon. I'm so excited! Feel free to go over to my "In It To End It" tab! Or, if you would like to make a donation, please feel free to go directly to my Avon Walk page.

Snow "Storm" 2012

Overnight, we received a light snow storm. It was only a few inches, but just enough for the Madore-ables to wake up and be extremely excited to go out and play in the snow.

As you can see above, we made two "snow sisters" just prior to 11:00 a.m. They spent a lot of time and certainly put a lot of hard work into the event. After the girls hands started to get cold, we went inside to start lunch. Just after lunch, Sarah comes flying out of the toy room yelling, "Mommy! Mommy! The scarves, and the carrot and the mittens are all over the ground!"

Sure enough...

Poor snow sisters :(

Oh The Cute Things Kids Will Say

A conversation between Jeremy and Samantha recently:

Samantha: "Daddy, I love nuts!"

Jeremy: "Oh yeah?"

Samantha: "Yeah! I especially love coconuts!"
