Dear Mother Nature

Dear Mother Nature,

The Madore-ables and I don't mean to complain, but did you have to schedule 3 days straight of rain and high winds? As a result, we're forced to stay inside because we don't want to go outside in this horrible weather. Face it, we may just melt from the rain, or blow away from the wind.

On a side note, I also don't appreciate the fact that you brought the high winds into my living room. It's one thing to create a mess of broken tree limbs in everyone's yards, but did you have to create a toy-nado in the middle of my living room?

I know you're very busy, but get back to me as soon as you can so we can discuss.

Love, Jenn

P.s - I documented the room damage...

Oh The Funny Things Kids Will Say

Samantha is on a roll this week. This girl seriously cracks me up.

The Madore-ables like to watch me put on my make up. I don't put it on everyday, but they will drop everything they're doing just to watch me. Samantha will tell me what I'm applying while Sarah sits pointing to her cheeks, or her eyes depending on if I'm applying my foundation or eyeshadow.

This morning, as I'm getting ready for church, Samantha makes it known that she wants me to check out her face. I do and nothing seems to be out of the norm and so I ask her what she did to her face.

Samantha : "Mommy! I put on mascara, just like you!"

Me : "Ohhh, Sam! You look so pretty!"

Samantha : "Thank you. Yeah, I'm putting on my church mascara"

Me : "Church mascara? What other kinds of mascara are there?" (In my mind, I was thinking maybe "Going to Nanny's mascara" or "Running errands mascara" or even "Watching Sesame Street mascara".)

What was Samantha's response?

Samantha : "It's strawberry or grape flavored!"

YUMMY!

Oh The Funny Things Kids Will Say

Samantha was especially giggly and goofy this morning, which is nothing different. We sang lots of silly songs, and made up some funny words while the Madore-ables got dressed. It got to the point where I was laughing because they were laughing so hard.

At one point, Samantha was laughing so hard, so I told her, "Samantha, did you take your silly pills this morning?"

Samantha's response?

"No Mommy! I don't take silly pills, I take silly vitamins!"

Five Things Friday

5 Things That Have Made Me Smile In the Last Week

This week has been an excellent week...I don't know if "5" is enough to share my joy!

  1. This past Tuesday morning, I found out that my sister in law Jessica is now ENGAGED to her (now) fiancee, Paul. We could not be more excited and more happy for them. No definite date has been set yet, but more than likely Summer 2011. Welcome to the family Paul!

  2. Tuesday all around was just a great day. Sarah's last official EI session was Tuesday. On one hand we are just so excited that Sarah is progressing so well. On the other hand, Sue from Pentucket Early Intervention has been part of our lives, our schedule since April 2009. It's going to be strange to not have her come each week. Thank you so much for all that you've done Sue...we are so blessed for all the help you've given us.

  3. This week has been too cold for me to walk, so instead, I've still been walking up early and doing my workouts and jogging. Now that Jessica is engaged, I have a new goal for myself: to be -35-40 lbs by next Summer.

  4. I still need to set myself up in the system, but I have 2 part time jobs. The first, as you know, I work 4 hours on Thursdays at Jeremy's company. Hopefully starting next week I'll start my new job as a transcriber. I'm looking forward to making some extra money all in the comforts of my home : )

  5. Less than 3 weeks until Thanksgiving!! LOVE this time of year. I'm thankful for everything I have in my life and I'm most thankful that I don't need one day to remind me of what I have in my life, because I am reminded every minute of everyday of what I have to be thankful about.

Dear Sarah (23 Month Update)

Dear Sarah,

Today you turn 23 months months old. Just think, this time next month we'll be celebrating your 2nd birthday. This year has gone by so fast and you have made so much progress. We are so proud of you.

Things are a lot different this month: for the better. You no longer need Sue to come to our house every Tuesday for EI. We just had our last appointment this past week. Unfortunately, this means that we won't be able to attend the Monday morning playgroup anymore, but we are on the waiting list for another playgroup for another day. So, hopefully very soon we'll hear something.

Your vocabulary has also increased, and seems to increase everyday. Samantha is going to be a great learning tool for you, so make sure you listen to your big sister. You're looking at pictures, and identifying people. You love saying "hi" and "bye" to everybody. (And I mean everybody). The girls at the check out line at the grocery store know your name now because you are so friendly and make friends of all ages everywhere.
Music time is always your favorite time of day. You always react so positively and even "sing along" yourself. You're singing the last word of every line in "You Are My Sunshine" and "Twinkle Twinkle Litter Star". Even when we're in the car, you always react to the tunes, and clap your hands along to the beat.
You're also doing a great job with your letters and your numbers. Auntie Molly brought a great book for you last week when she visited. It's called "Goodnight Moon 123" and already, you know most of the numbers inside the book. While we're at Nanny's house, you like to give us a full report of what numbers and letters are on Nanny's fridge.
Daddy and I are really enjoying watching you play with your toys, and do pretend play. You do a great job at whipping up pretend meals on yours and Samantha's play kitchen. Probably the best pretend meals Mommy has ever had ;)
Thank you for making Mommy & Daddy smile all the time. We love having you in our life and as part of our family. You never cease to amaze us and what you're capable of doing. We'll always be here for you whenever you need us.
We're so proud of you and love you forever always.
Love, Mommy & Daddy

Dear Samantha (40 Month Update)

Dear Samantha,

Today you turn 40 months old. I know every month we say this, but we cannot believe another month has passed us by again. You continue to amaze everybody around you and Mommy & Daddy could not be prouder.

You continue to really put in the effort to helping out: whether it be helping Mommy with dinner or putting laundry away. You've really been a big help and teaching Sarah her letters and numbers. I know one of your favorite songs is the "A-B-C" song which you sing to Sarah all the time. The ironic thing is, I don't think you realize that you're really teaching Sarah because you're having so much fun while singing it. Either way, Sarah is saying some of the letters, so your helping educate your little sister too. You should be very proud of yourself. I know Daddy and I are.
Something else that you've continued to do is say "please" and "thank you" to mostly everything. It's very refreshing to hear that, and whether you know it or not, you've helped Daddy and I teach Sarah to say, and sign please and thank you too.

Another big milestone that you've accomplished in the last few weeks is you are now in a big girl bed. You were excited from the beginning, so the transition was very simple. We're so glad that you enjoy being in your bed. Just remember, it's OK to sleep in the middle of the bed, rather than on the very edge. I cannot tell you how many times we found you sleeping on the floor when we come in to check on you when we go to bed. Ha ha. As a result of you sleeping in a big girl bed, you've slept overnight at Nanny's house a few times too. I myself used to enjoy sleeping over my grandparents houses when I was your age so I hope you do too! Grandparent sleepovers are always fun.
Remember that Daddy and I love you so very much. Never doubt that for a moment. Thank you for all that you do to help Mommy and Daddy. Thank you for all of your many random hugs and kisses and "I love you's" during the day. We truly have been blessed to have you as part of our family...we wouldn't be complete without you.
Love you always and forever,
Mommy & Daddy
