Today you turn 59 months, which means that one month from today marks your 5th Birthday. Mommy feels very badly that I haven't posted your monthly updates in a few months. Life has gotten busy, but I wanted to sit down today and just reflect on what's been going on in your life and how you are progressing.
For starters, you are just over one week from finishing up your first year of pre-school. You have thoroughly enjoyed going this past year and Daddy and I are so happy about that. I love dropping you off in the morning and picking you up in the afternoon and hearing about all of your adventures during the morning. I love hearing that you enjoy having a job and helping out during class time. Your favorite job this past year has been snack helper or weather/calendar girl. I love to hear about your interactions with your classmates during the day too. The "I was invited to "so and so's" birthday party" and "I was playing pirates with the boys today!". I love to hear all the excitement. I also love seeing your art projects that you've worked so hard on and seeing how much you've progressed not only on your coloring but your handwriting as well. You've been doing an amazing job at coloring inside the lines and spelling your name and other words out. It amazes me your kind thoughts and intentions when creating your artwork. Each time you bring a piece home, you explain to us who is in your pictures and why you chose certain colors. You've had several field trips this past year: apple picking, pumpkin picking and a trip to the Butterfly Place on a real school bus too! You are really looking forward your date night with Daddy tomorrow night for "Dad's Night" at the school. I know you and your classmates have been creating quite an array of beautiful surprises. I can't wait to hear all about it!
One of your favorite past times in the car is to shout out the makes of each car and truck that pass us by. It'll be quiet for a few minutes, and then all of a sudden "TOYOTA!" or "FORD!" from the back seat. (Then you have Sarah trained to know what the smell of diesel fuel is...which cracks us up). And in the next sentence you will talk about getting your ears pierced or how much you loved putting on a little bit of lipstick for church the other day. You've also taken a HUGE liking to the game Uno. You've also taken a liking to coming with Sarah and Daddy to visit me at work. Mommy loves that very much :)
Daddy and I registered you for Kindergarten this Fall in March, and as of a few weeks ago you were screened. When the teacher brought you back to me, her exact words to me were, "Samantha is beyond ready to begin Kindergarten in the Fall". Daddy and I are SO proud of you. We know you are going to just blossom just like you already have been.
You have been doing a great job with remembering to say grace at the table before each meal. You've been doing an even better job with participating in church/Mass with the Nicene Creed, the "Our Father" and all of the other responses. We know that it's hard to sit down for an hour to listen, but you really try hard each week and do a great job. Daddy and I are so proud of you.
We also know how hard it is to get along with Sarah. You have such good intentions and just want to help her. We need to work on being more patient with this, and we know over time you'll learn to filter things out too. Not too worry, it's all part of the raising and growing process both for you and for Daddy and I. We'll just take one day at a time.
Daddy and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching you grow up over these last (almost) 5 years. We've enjoyed all the happy moments and the typical patience testing moments. Either way, we're here for you every step of the way. However you need us. God knew we needed you even before we knew you were about to enter our lives, and our lives have been so much better since you've arrived. Thank you for being the beautiful, sweet, thoughtful girl that you are. Thank you for challenging Daddy and I every single day to be good role models for you and Sarah. Nothing is more important to us than being a good Mommy and Daddy. We don't always have a plan. We don't always know what we're doing, but we certainly will love you with everything that we are. We look forward to watching you grow up and witnessing more milestones and accomplishing more goals.
We love you so much. Always know that.
Love, Mommy and Daddy
